Since the beginning of our Seminary Scholarship Foundation in the summer of 2007, we have given away in cash scholarships over $675,000 to 102 seminary students.  We have also given away three used cars.  In 2007, we began with a minimum cash distribution of $100 a month for each student.  In 2009, that amount was raised to $450 a quarter.  In 2010, it was raised to $750 a quarter. Before the inception of the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation in 2007, donors channeled  through First United Methodist Church of Montgomery over $2,000,000 for seminary students through Dr. Karl K. Stegall’s “faith promise” seminary scholarship program.  Since the Foundation was established in 2007, donors have given an approximately $4,000,000.   As we have continued to make generous gifts to all of our seminary students on a quarterly basis across the past 4 ½ years, we now have in our Foundation approximately $3,000,000. While we celebrate what we have been able to do as a result of the great generosity of our donors, we are mindful that today we are able to give only $3,000 annually towards the approximate $40,000 it costs to attend seminary on an annual basis.  There is still much to be done for those who are  preparing for a lifetime of service to Jesus Christ and the church!
